New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal
New Bedford, MA
Soil contamination by a variety of hazardous materials was discovered during the construction of the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal in New Bedford, MA. To address the issue, MCE was contracted to transport and dispose of 8100 tons of contaminated soil. High levels of PCB’s, oils, lead, and VOCs, required various transportation and disposal methods to properly address the affected soil. The MCE team worked closely with the client, Cashman-Weeks NB, as well as the LSP and site owner to ensure construction schedules were met while large volumes of soil, based upon the contaminants, were successfully transported offsite via rail and truck to facilities from New Hampshire to Utah.
